The Interpretive Story

The Interpretive Story So Far

In the mid-1980's I was fortunate to see first-hand the profound effect learning through simulation had on executives while working with Tom Kinnear at GE and Chrysler. Though the simulations used back then were basic by today's standards, you could readily see the potential for broader use in universities and corporate training.

In 1986, I founded Interpretive to be a key player in this revolution in experiential learning. We've come a long way since those humble beginnings but our focus has always been, and will remain, providing you and your students with the best possible learning experience through business simulation. We've worked with many thousands of students around the world, ranging from top 10 business schools to community colleges and executives from hundreds of companies.

People learn best by doing. It's just that simple.

Interpretive shares your goal of creating tomorrow's business leaders. Today's students need to understand complex problems, experience working in teams of people with diverse opinions and personalities, and ultimately come to a decision in the face of many competing options. That part isn't simple. And that is why students need practice. Simulations provide that practice in a low-risk, highly engaging environment.

The Interpretive Advantage

Each of our simulations provides a unique learning experience. One size doesn't fit all and we don't pretend that it does. Your institution can choose multiple Interpretive simulations and be assured that your students will have a fresh experience with each event. Once you have found the right content fit for your class, you still can customize the level of complexity and focus to best meet your requirements.

Our simulations are designed with two unique ingredients.

  1. First is our partnership with leading academic specialists from top business schools. Interpretive currently has 17 different co-authors who bring hundreds of years of teaching and theoretical experience to the development process.
  2. Second is our focus on realism. Students take the role of auto executives, brand managers, and start-up entrepreneurs in real industries. In many cases, our simulations were designed for a particular institution that demanded a realistic experience. Your cases reflect the richness of multiple industries, your simulations should too.
It isn't easy to create realistic simulations with a variety of viewpoints, but we believe it is worth the effort.
