The Human Resource Management Simulation is a competitive simulation where students will be acting as the Human Resource Director of a growing organization. Students will make the types of decisions required in a modern human resource department, directly relating to the types of issues covered in human resource management courses and textbooks. The simulation and supporting materials are co-authored by Jerald Smith and Peggy Golden, both of Florida Atlantic University. HRManagement is an excellent complement to traditional teaching methods, allowing students to apply business concepts in a dynamic, integrative environment.
The Case: Groups of 3-5 students take the role of a newly-appointed Human Resource Director of a mid-sized company. The company has been growing rapidly; and the human resource department and its functions have not kept pace with this growth. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has instructed the Director to get human resource department organized, build a strong HR function, and "get the company moving."
Behavioral elements presented in the form of up to 14 mini-cases or incidents to encourage class discussion on different HR topics.
Student performance can be compared on a number of metrics related to HR performance including an instructor-weighted balanced scorecard. All Interpretive simulations include a pre-simulation quiz and peer review.
